Sautéed Turkey with Bell Peppers (Poêlée de Dinde aux Poivrons)
This quick and healthy dish is packed with flavor, perfect for a weeknight dinner. The combination of juicy turkey and sweet bell peppers makes it both light and satisfying.
Ingredients:
- 300g (10 oz) turkey breast, cut into thin strips
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cumin (optional, for extra depth)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce or lemon juice (for a hint of acidity)
- Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the ingredients: Slice the turkey into strips and chop the vegetables.
- Heat the pan: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Cook the turkey: Add the turkey strips and sauté for about 5 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté the veggies: In the same pan, add onions and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes until fragrant. Then, add the bell peppers and stir-fry for 5 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
- Combine everything: Return the turkey to the pan, season with paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes. Add soy sauce or lemon juice and stir well. Cook for another 3 minutes.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve hot with rice, quinoa, or crusty bread.
